Weeks 8-18

The last few months have been lost in a blur of Logic. I must confess I’m not the most naturally gifted when it comes to tech, and I’m working my way through basic editing and processing, helped by a bunch of youtube tutorials and cups of tea. A trip to pembrokeshire yielded much in the way of ancestral roots - managed to track down farms where my great great great and beyond grandparents lived. I’m still working through lots of tapes of birdsong and rain…and more wind. I’m trying to get them into some sort of order to present to my mentor Jobina Tinemans - feel like I’ve got proper homework to do! What I’m finding fascinating is how all the calls of the birds seem to relate to each to each other. Maybe not in the sense they are communicating with each other, but that the soundscape has evolved with and through them, and they have absorbed the sounds they hear and rework them. Also signed up to a Field Recording evening class with Marcus Leadley at Goldsmiths University outreach, and it’s proving really informative.
